What's Up in Aix
Aix-en-Provence has an active cultural life highlighted by its world-renowned international music and opera festival. There are numerous cafés, restaurants, and movie theaters. AUCP students are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available in Aix and are provided with a monthly calendar of free time activities - a gold mine of affordable or free events and activities to choose from.

Clubs and Community Service
All AUCP students participate in a personal interest activity or club, and provide weekly community service in the interest of one of the many local non-profit organizations. Students usually find that sharing in these activities is the quickest, surest way to get to know French people naturally.

A Commitment to French Immersion
The AUCP provides students with an entirely French-speaking environment and students must have a minimum high intermediate level of French. All program participants make a personal commitment to French immersion through a formal language pledge. At the end of their first week in Aix, students meet with their language partner, a French student or young professional currently studying English. This weekly two-hour conversation exchange often opens up to a wide network of local contacts and friends.

Certificates of Achievement
As an integral part of AUCP programs, all students participate in pre- and post-semester testing in both French language acquisition and intercultural sensitivity development, and receive two internationally recognized certificates, the TEF (Test d'évaluation du français) and the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory).
