ONE SEMESTER

Intensity of Discovery
Carefully conceived course offerings coupled with guided experiential learning activities bring coherence and purpose to an intensive AUCP fall or Spring semester abroad. Curricular focus and personal guidance in the process of cross-cultural adaptation allow for remarkable academic and personal success in a few short months.

An AUCP student’s normal academic load is five courses taken on-site, including one optional course by direct enrollment at the French university.

Pre-enrollment choices should be indicated on the application form. Final enrollment (including the choice of French university courses) takes place in Aix after consultation with the AUCP administration.

Required Courses One Semester:
French Cultural Patterns (Fr 309)
Advanced Written and Oral Expression (Fr 331), or Translation (Fr 339)
Three selections from the AUCP course list

Optional French university course by direct enrollment may replace one selection from the AUCP course list.*

FULL YEAR

Depth of Understanding
Ideally compatible with the AUCP's emphasis on depth and breadth of understanding, the full year program allows for both linguistic/cultural fluency and academic specialization. Full year students acquire skills worthy of the most ambitious international careers. Second semester course options include a wide range of classes offered by the local French universities and grandes écoles.

The academic load for full year AUCP participants resembles that of one-semester students for the fall semester. For the spring, students having taken Advanced French Grammar (Fr 311) in the fall take Translation (Fr 339). Those having taken Translation (Fr 339) in the fall may choose an additional option from the AUCP course list. Five courses are required

Required Courses Second Semester:
Translation (Fr 339) (see exception above)
Four selections from the AUCP course list
or AUCP and French university direct enrollment combination.*

*Aix program costs allow for enrollment in one French university course per semester or a total of two per academic year with the option of taking both French university courses during the second semester. An additional French university course may be taken for a supplementary fee.
